Paestum viva

Conviviality is the protagonist of the free openings of the Archaeological Park of Paestum which, every Thursday afternoon of the month, welcomes visitors with aperitifs in Paestum organized in collaboration with Slow Food Cilento. The initiative is part of the wider program of free openings identified by the Archaeological Park of Paestum every Thursday afternoon thanks to the autonomy granted to the individual MiBAC institutes and adheres to the #iovadoalmuseo national communication campaign. The intent is to make the museum an increasingly familiar place for visitors, a place that can also offer fun and pleasure and be an opportunity to make friends and non-friends meet and talk. The Paestum aperitifs will not depart from the Cilento culinary tradition; thanks to the variety of ingredients typical of the Mediterranean diet, the Slow Food star chefs will give ample space to experimentation and imagination, with not only good proposals, but also attentive to the enhancement of the territory through the use of local products at km 0.

Armi primitive

The laboratory aims to explore some of the cardinal activities of the ancient world such as war, hunting and other particular crafts, through the examination of the objects reserved for them. In particular, the reconstructions of weapons and tools of ancient age will be shown. They have been reproduced according to the originals both for manufacturing techniques and for materials used. An important focus is reserved to the prehistoric age, to the Gaudo culture of Paestum, with the presentation of flint tools, bone, points, scrapers and lithic splinters. Bows, arrows, axes and knives will be explained in conjunction with insights into technological and military evolution, from prehistory to the Roman age. Hours: every Tuesday at 11:00.
